Carol Beth Colby: 1960-2024

Carol enjoyed the commraderie of many golfing friends especially the ladies golf group including her favorite golf partner, Donna Hunter. Carol worked for many years in the automotive industry including mechanics and wholesale warehouse services in Eureka with her last job at Napa Automotive Parts downtown Eureka.

Silvia Maria Leonardo

December 21, 1939 – July 8, 2024

With great sadness our beloved mother, Silvia Maria Leonardo passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, at the age of 84 with both her children by her side. Born December 21st, 1939, in Fortuna to John and Lena Saottini.

Catherine Ellen Barnes

August 31, 1950- March 13, 2024

As a woman of many great talents, best known publicly for her masterful capacity in physical therapy, fitness instruction, massage therapy and paralegal services. Catherine retired from the city of Eureka after her years as a fitness instructor at the Adorni Center and also was a member of the team at The Spa Personal Choice, certified in Swedish and Esalon massage earned at The McKinnon Institute.

Gary Lee Markussen Jr.: 1951-2024

In continued service to his people, Gary worked with the interim council to help found the Yurok Tribal government and later sat on tribal council as the South District Representative and later as vice-chair for the Yurok Tribe. As a young man, Gary was taught the traditional values, prayers and laws by his elders.

David Keith Boston: 1951-2024

By fate, he met his daughter Angelique M. Boston in December of 1971. He met the love of his life Deborah J. Bryan in 1975.

Robert Vernor Ford: 1931-2024

Beyond fishing, Bob had a lifelong love for flying, having served in the air force during the Korean War and later piloting a crop duster over the fields of Idaho. His commitment to community was evident through his 20-year membership at the Humboldt Senior Resource Center, where he participated in their day program.

Pat Hassler: 1935-2024

Pat was awarded scholarships and worked summers as a clerk at Clapp’s Store and the McCook Packing Corp. to help fund her education. Pat went on to attend McCook Community College, where she earned an AA degree and later attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts in education in 1956.

Janis Nees: 1944-2024

Born to Sylvester and Marjory Mart, Janis Nees passed away into the arms of her savior on June 3 in her daughter's home. AKA: Janis Martz, Janis Shaffer and Janis Teague.

Elaine Vogt: 1935-2024

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her oldest son, Mickey, and youngest son, Lee. She was also preceded by two great grandchildren, Trinent and Austin, and great-great granddaughter Makala.

Dorothy Blackcrow Mack: 1934-2024

Dorothy taught English to engineering students first in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and then at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She was one of the few female faculty in those days, part of the first generation of women to move out of the world of homemaking and into high level careers.
