Audrea Filbey: 1977-2024

During her first year at college, Audrea was introduced to her husband and the man of her dreams, Aaron Filbey. From the first day she met him, she knew, deep down in her bones that Aaron was the only one for her.

Orr Marshall: 1937-2023

After graduating from Yale in 1961, Orr moved to the Bay Area where he taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts. In the Bay Area, Orr was able to expand his foreign language study from European languages (French, German, and Russian) to Asian languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese).

Mary Celine Guglielmina Charbonneau: 1931-2024

Mary’s brother, Len Guglielmina, introduced her to her future husband, Neal Charbonneau, when both men were stationed at Travis Air Force base in Fairfield. Mary and Neal were married on June 4, 1955, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Ferndale.

Jim Ferry: 1942-2024

Jim Ferry (aka Lewis James Ferry) passed away at the age of 81 on Jan. 27 in Santa Rosa, California. Jim was also known as the “miracle man” as he survived pancreatic cancer for six years.

Clare Francis Marie Alder: 1983-2024

As a child, Clare grew up in the dressing rooms where her mom performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. She met people like Frank Sinatra, Sami Davis Jr., and the Temptations.

Cynthia Gail Hebard: 1954-2023

In the late '80s she decided to become her own boss and opened a cafeteria on the third floor of the Caltrans building in Eureka. She named it “The Pothole” and Caltrans (at first) was not amused.

William 'Bill' Shewry Jr.: 1932-2024

Graduating from Ferndale Unified High School in 1950, Bill continued his educational journey at Compton Junior College and the University of Southern California before ultimately earning his degree from Long Beach State College. Following this academic pursuit, he dedicated two years to serving in the U.S. Army as an infantryman.

Robert William Astrue: 1928-2023

Back at home, Bob and Jim shared a room and were close companions. They enjoyed recurring jokes and improvised comedy routines, football catch and other games.

Patsy Ruth Walker: 1929-2023

Patsy Ruth Walker (Hackett), born Sept. 25, 1929, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at Seaview Rehab & Wellness Center in Eureka on Dec. 27, 2023. She was raised on a sheep ranch outside Ferndale by her parents George and Bertha Hackett (McAllister).
