According to transcripts of the commission hearings, it appears McCloskey forged a letter in support of Kleen’s application then lied about it.

The trimaran, which the crew had been taking from Fort Bragg to Portland, was found beached this morning. The Shelter Cove rescue team put the trimaran boaters into motel rooms last night and today, they’ll try to help get them home.

Blanck’s claim states that he was prevented from attending the March 19 closed session meeting to hear the complaints that had been levied against him and the attorney he believes was advising the county on his personnel issue had a conflict of interest because she was a partner in the firm that he was raising concerns about.

Local progressive mainstay David Cobb told the Journal that he was at the fundraiser and overheard Bohn, who was acting as auctioneer at the event, speaking with Ferndale Rep Artistic Producing Director Leira Satlof, who was walking Bohn through the items up for auction that night. According to Cobb, when Satlof told Bohn of a home-cooked Mexican dinner up for sale — asking that he stress the meal would be authentic — Bohn asked, “Is it so authentic that we’re going to want to go steel hubcaps after we eat?”

Cooperation Humboldt Plants 20 Community Trees

The fruit trees come after Cooperation Humboldt’s successful Little Free Pantries program, “where residents can share non-perishable foods and personal care items 24 hours a day.” The organization will also look to convert unused lawns into productive gardens in affiliation with the national Food Not Lawns organization. “The foundation of our food program is an understanding that our current food production and distribution system – reliant on large corporations to meet our fundamental need for sustenance – is deeply flawed and contributing to climate breakdown,” McFarland said in the release.

Trinidad Ordnance Destroyed by Military Disposal Team

On April 2, 2019, at about 8:15 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team was dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Highland Avenue in Trinidad for the report of a possible military-grade ordnance found. The property owner told deputies that he had found the ordnance approximately 15 years ago while cleaning up the property and at the time, did not realize what the object was.

Skeletal Remains Found in Wooded Area Near Blue Lake

On March 29, 2019, at about 6 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding human skeletal remains located near the junction of Blue Lake Boulevard and Maple Creek Road, near the City of Blue Lake. The skeletal remains were located in a steep, wooded area by a local resident.
