The county has reported 54 COVID-19 cases to date, with the majority — 28 — coming in a six-day period from March 30 to April 6. But the rate of positive tests tapered sharply, with a combined five announced for April 5 and April 6, one April 7 and no others until sole positive tests April 14, April 15,  April 24 and April 29.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has detected the state’s first cases of a potentially crippling hoof disease in two Roosevelt elk from a resident herd in Del Norte County. Treponeme-associated hoof disease (TAHD) – commonly referred to as “elk hoof disease” – can cause deformed, overgrown and otherwise damaged hooves.

The state of California has issued guidelines detailing what retail businesses, including the companies that provide them logistical and manufacturing support, need to do in order to re-open for curbside and delivery services Friday amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The businesses must have all of the following provisions in place: requiring facial coverings for all employees and customers; allowing 6 feet of physical distancing at all times for both employees and customers; providing access to hand washing and sanitizing for employees and customers; plans for frequent cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces; and a plan to identify and exclude sick employees from the workplace.

Farmers Markets Return with New Rules
