A.J. Lee & Blues Summit is fronted by singer, songwriter and mandolinist A.J. Lee, who was considered something of a teenage prodigy when she started her career a decade ago in her hometown of Santa Cruz. The intervening years have built her and her group a reputation as masterful modern bluegrass players capable of putting on a great show that will pack the seams of any venue or festival.

Savage Henry Comedy Club is debuting a new show tonight at 9 p.m. Senor Molina’s La Loteria Madness kind of says it all but, just to be clear, this is a comedy show hosted by Nando Molina where the comedic cues will all come from a deck of those delightful, Tarot-adjacent random chance cards so beloved to many in the gaming world going back centuries (Free).

Originally from Texas, he is a touring road dog of the first degree and worth an evening of your time, which you can enjoy at Synapsis at 8 p.m.

Metal Monday, 7 p.m., Savage Henry Comedy Club, all-ages, I.D. to drink fermented liquids, $5- $10 sliding scale at the door, and now that we’ve moved past the standard boilerplate, here comes the line-up. Locals Insomnia Syndrome, who are more metal and heavy than punk, and land speed recorders Brain Dead Rejects will join Dumpster Puppies from Crescent City, a town so depressing that it must create some good bands on the back-end of that deal. Hell, it’s worked for Eureka.

The California Honeydrops are a former busking band from the Bay Area who have that has climbed out of the spawning staircase of public space and transportation performances that gave us such greats as the Violent Femmes and Gogol Bordello. Long away from those days and well-adjusted to larger venues, the band still brings its harmonic gut-bucket blues and soul  roots sound to the stage every night.
